The current market offers a wide variety of drainage channels manufacturers, but not all provide the same level of quality, innovation, and reliability in their solutions.
In this article, we will analyze some of the most reliable companies in the sector, evaluating their characteristics, market positioning, and the factors that make them outstanding options for demanding industrial projects.
What Makes a Drainage Channel Company Reliable
In 2024, global economic losses from natural disasters reached approximately $368 billion, driven largely by events such as floods, storms, and extreme rainfall, according to analyses by reinsurers and international organizations.
Therefore, drainage systems cannot be considered a secondary element, but rather a priority. When infrastructure fails during heavy rainfall, the result is not just accumulated water, but damage to facilities, operational shutdowns, and direct economic losses.
That is why the most reliable drainage channel manufacturers focus not only on product durability, but also on creating drains capable of evacuating large volumes of water quickly, without collapses or blockages.
Ranking of Companies in the Industrial Drainage Channel Sector
Below is a ranking of some of the most internationally recognized manufacturers of drainage channels.
1º ULMA Architectural Solutions
- Business Type: Manufacturer specializing in linear drainage solutions and prefabricated polymer concrete products
- Year Founded: 1957
- Products: Industrial drainage channels, high-strength grates, stormwater drainage systems, solutions for civil engineering and industrial projects
ULMA Architectural Solutions is one of the most established companies in the global industrial drainage systems sector. Its specialization in polymer concrete allows it to develop solutions with very high mechanical strength, low water absorption, and superior durability in demanding environments such as logistics zones, airports, heavy industries, and urban infrastructure.
One of its key differentiators is its focus on engineering applied to each project, not just on standard product manufacturing. ULMA regularly collaborates with engineering and architectural firms to design drainage systems tailored to specific loads, flow rates, and real-world operating conditions.
Furthermore, its product range covers very high load classes (including extreme industrial environments), positioning it as one of the most reliable options when structural performance is critical. Its international presence and experience in large-scale projects reinforce its leadership within the sector.
2º ACO Group
- Business Type: Global manufacturer of drainage and water management systems
- Year Founded: 1946
- Products: Linear drainage channels, water treatment systems, oil separators, infrastructure solutions
ACO Group is one of the world’s leading water management groups. Its activities extend beyond drainage to encompass complete solutions for water collection, conveyance, and treatment in industrial and urban environments.
The company is known for its ability to offer modular systems that facilitate installation and reduce construction time. Furthermore, it incorporates sustainability-oriented solutions, such as contaminant separation systems and stormwater management.
Its global presence and constant investment in innovation make it a key player in large-scale projects.
3º HAURATON
- Business type: manufacturer specializing in linear drainage systems and stormwater management
- Year founded: 1956
- Products: drainage channels, filtration systems, solutions for roads, airports, and industry
HAURATON is a German company recognized for its focus on hydraulic efficiency and sustainable water management. Its systems are designed to withstand high-traffic applications such as roads, industrial areas, and large infrastructure projects.
One of its strengths is the integration of filtration solutions that help reduce water pollution before discharge. This makes it a highly valued option for projects with stringent environmental requirements.
Its combination of technical engineering and practical solutions positions it as a very strong manufacturer within the European market.
4º MEA Water Management
- Business Type: Manufacturer of technical drainage systems and construction solutions
- Year Founded: 1907
- Products: Drainage channels, bank protection systems, civil engineering and infrastructure solutions
MEA Water Management has a long history in the technical construction sector. Its focus is on providing functional and durable solutions for industrial, residential, and infrastructure projects.
Its products are designed for easy on-site installation and long-term, stable performance. MEA particularly excels in modular systems that comply with various European standards.
It is a common choice for projects seeking a balance between technical performance, cost, and ease of implementation.

NDS (National Diversified Sales)
- Business Type: Manufacturer of stormwater drainage, irrigation, and flow management systems
- Year Founded: 1972
- Products: Channel and trench drains, catch basins, grates, stormwater chambers, drainage fittings, permeable pavers
NDS is the only US based manufacturer on this list. The company started in 1972 and is credited with the first plastic catch basin built for landscape drainage. Since February 2026 it has been part of Advanced Drainage Systems, which acquired the business from Norma Group SE. Its catalog covers a full drainage run, from the channel at the surface down to the pipe, the fittings, and the underground StormChamber units.
For industrial floors and yards, the relevant line among the NDS channel and trench drains is Dura Slope. The channels are high density polyethylene with UV inhibitors, and the sections snap together with interlocking tongue and groove joints. NDS positions them as easier to handle and cheaper to freight than traditional concrete channel drains. Grates come in plastic, galvanized or stainless steel, and cast or ductile iron, depending on what will be driving over them.
Load capacity is where a system like this gets specified or rejected. NDS had the Dura Slope channel and grates tested to the AASHTO M-306 and EN 1433 methods by an independent AASHTO accredited lab. The standard assembly is rated for loads of 61 to 175 psi, which covers cars and light trucks at speeds under 20 mph. Adding the DS-200 ductile iron frame takes that to 326 to 575 psi, H-20 rated, which is enough for hard tire forklift traffic at the same speed limit. Where a project calls for concrete instead, NDS also sells the BG-FILCOTEN high performance concrete channels in 4, 8, and 12 inch widths.
Typical applications are warehouses, loading docks, wash-down areas, and parking areas. NDS sells across the Americas through professional distributors and home and garden retailers.
